Report from Daytime ASB Council

The minutes from the February 18, 2016, Daytime ASB Council were distributed. Mrs. McKenna explained that the minutes from each council meeting are given to the other council, so that they each know what is being discussed at each other’s meetings.

New Business

Mrs. McKenna addressed the Council regarding “Day of the Teacher.” This year, the ASB Council is not going to fund a lunch/dinner celebration nor the purchasing of gifts for the teachers. Instead, the ASB Council will make cards or write poems for the teachers and perhaps buy each a flower. If Mrs. Roberts finds the funds in another budget and decides to provide a meal for the teachers, members of the ASB Council may act as hosts.

Mrs. Roberts has not set the dates for the Photo IDs. She is hoping to schedule them in the month of April.

The Council unanimously voted in favor of hosting a Presbyterian Blood Drive. The Daytime Council also voted unanimously in favor of the blood drive also.

Old Business

The Council discussed possible purchases for the school. Mrs. McKenna shared with the Evening Council the ideas the Daytime Council suggested. The Daytime Council recommended sign be put up around the school naming each department. They also mentioned replacing the stolen Slim Jim + Charger. We also walked over and looked at the mural in Frontier High School. The Daytime Council would like to have one for the Adult School. The Daytime Council would like to purchase umbrellas for the lunch area. A member also brought up the idea of buying shades to surround the Snack Shack area, so the students could eat lunch in the shade without bees.

The Evening Council liked all of the Daytime suggestions.

Mrs. McKenna informed both Daytime and Evening ASB Council members that any idea that will be voted upon must include the pricing. The Council cannot vote on any item without knowing the cost.

Student Concerns

One member wanted to know if there had been any further decisions regarding the problem with the Mulberry entrance. Mrs. McKenna said she will bring this up with Mrs. Roberts.

Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned.
