Report from Daytime ASB Council

The minutes from the February 17, 2016, Evening ASB Council were distributed. Mrs. McKenna explained that the minutes from each council meeting are given to the other council, so that they each know what is being discussed at each other’s meetings.

New Business

Mrs. McKenna addressed the Council regarding “Day of the Teacher.” This year, the ASB Council is not going to fund a lunch/dinner celebration nor the purchasing of gifts for the teachers. Instead, the ASB Council will make cards or write poems for the teachers and perhaps buy each a flower. If Mrs. Roberts finds the funds in another budget and decides to provide a meal for the teachers, members of the ASB Council may act as hosts.

Mrs. Roberts has not set the dates for the Photo IDs. She is hoping to schedule them in the month of April.

The Council unanimously voted in favor of hosting a Presbyterian Blood Drive.

Old Business

Mrs. Roberts has been discussing with M & O the possibility of getting recycling trash cans. She has also discussed with M & O the bee problem in the lunch area. To date, the trash cans have not been moved away from the lunch tables.

The Council discussed possible purchases for the school. The Daytime Council recommended signs be put up around the school naming each department. They also mentioned replacing the stolen Slim Jim + Charger. We also walked over and looked at the mural in Frontier High School. The Daytime Council would like to have one for the Adult School. The Daytime Council would like to purchase umbrellas for the lunch area. A member also brought up the idea of buying shades to surround the Snack Shack area, so the students could eat lunch in the shade without bees.

Mrs. McKenna informed the Daytime Council members that any idea that will be voted upon must include the pricing. The Council cannot vote on any item without knowing the cost.

Student Concerns

One student suggested that some type of celebration be given to the CTE students upon completion of the program.

Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned.
