Report from Evening ASB Council

The minutes from the October 28, 2015, Evening ASB Council were distributed. Mrs. McKenna explained that the minutes from each council meeting are given to the other council, so that they each know what is being discussed at each other’s meetings.

New Business

Mrs. McKenna explained the purpose of having an Adult student Body Council. She informed the ASB members that being on the Council will not require a lot of time away from their academic commitments. She explained that the Council will only meet once a month for about one hour. She also explained that there is an evening Council and together they create one Council. Mrs. McKenna explained that each Council communicates with one another via the minutes from each ASB meeting.

Mrs. McKenna explained that the majority of funds for the ASB budget is made by the sale of Student Photo IDs. The dates for the fall Photo ID have not been determined, but Mrs. McKenna told the Council that she will inform them as soon as she gets the dates from the Director, Mrs. Debbie Roberts. The ASB members help promote the purchase of Photo IDs by announcing the dates in their classrooms, and Mrs. McKenna will put up signs near the snack shack and the bungalows.

Mrs. Roberts scheduled the dates for the Photo IDs. The dates will be December 8 and 9, with a make-up date on December 16, 2015. Mrs. McKenna said she will put-up advertising posters; one in the snack shack area and the other out by the bungalows. In addition, she will make up flyers for the teachers to hand out to all students announcing the details and benefits of getting a Photo ID. Hopefully, by doing these two things, the ASB can count on a high student turn-out on the Photo ID dates.

Mrs. McKenna asked the Daytime Council to help wrap boxes for the Interfaith Food Center Toy Drive one day during the first week in December. At this time a date has not been set. A box will be placed in each of the classrooms and in the staff offices. The pick-up date for the toys is scheduled for December 18, 2015.

Mrs. McKenna encouraged each Council member to inform his/her classmates about the importance of bringing in food for the Thanksgiving Food Drive and the benefits of purchasing a Photo ID.

Old Business

Mrs. McKenna discussed with Mrs. Roberts all of the students concerns. The students were concerned about the cleanliness and proper stalking of toiletries in the bungalow bathrooms. She suggested students inform their teacher when an issue arises so that any issue can be dealt with immediately.

Mrs. Roberts reported that installing cameras and/or more lights in the parking lot area is not financially feasible at this time.

Mrs. Roberts appreciated the suggestion regarding having an entrance to the parking lot on the Painter Avenue side and she said she will mention this idea to her Superiors.

Student Concerns

There were no student concerns at this time.

The meeting was adjourned.
